John 10 Partial Contrator Stamp 5th and Upas

A partial contractor stamp in a sidewalk. The part remaining says John 10Photo taken 22 January 2009
One of the important indicators dates for neighborhood development in San Diego are contractor stamps on sidewalks. When contractors lay sidewalks they often stamp their names in the side walk as an advertisement. The time that the sidewalk was laid can then be narrowed to the time that company operated in San Diego. Often though all doubt is removed because the stamp includes a date often to the day that the work was done. In this case the stamp is incomplete, and the date has been lost. However the partial may be compared to complete stamps to ascertain the contractor. If you are repairing sidewalks, please take care not to unnecessarily erase these important pieces of San Diego History. This partial contractor stamp can be found at 3366 Fifth Avenue San Diego California, 92103.

Tree Leaf Stains

Pictures taken 31 December 2008

These beautiful leaf shapes are made by the stains left by wet leaves.  These imprints last long after the leaves have been swept away.
